Genesis 31:16
For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children’s: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do. For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children’s: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.
Rachel and Leah gave this answer to Jacob in the field by his flock after he told them that Laban's countenance had turned against him, that he had served Laban with all his power, that Laban had deceived him and changed his wages ten times while God had kept Laban from hurting him, and that God had given him a dream to leave Laban and go to his kindred. It belongs to the account of Jacob's departure from Laban after God had directed Jacob to return to his homeland and after Jacob had carried his distress to God for direction.
In the verse the wives express dissatisfaction with their father's dealings, counting themselves as strangers sold by him whose money he had devoured and consumed. They affirm that all the riches which God had taken from their father belong to them and their children. They urge Jacob to do whatever God has told him to do, supporting obedience to God's instruction and his departure from Laban.
