Genesis 34:11

And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.

Shechem addressed Dinah's father and her brothers with a plea to be regarded with favor and with a pledge to give whatever they should demand of him. His words were a direct appeal for acceptance of his suit and an open offer of payment on their terms. That appeal stands within a longer sequence that started when Dinah mingled with the people of the land. From that association the events moved forward toward deceit, violence, and bloodshed.
