Genesis 36:17
And these are the sons of Reuel Esau’s son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau’s wife. And these are the sons of Reuel Esau’s son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau’s wife.
Genesis 36:17 stands in a chapter wholly taken up with Esau and the nations which sprang from him. Its setting falls about ten or eleven years after Jacob's blessing at Peniel, when Jacob was about 109, Joseph was 17, and Benjamin was a small child two to four years old. It follows Jacob's peaceful meeting with Esau and coming to Shechem, the destruction of Shechem, the revival in Jacob's family with the putting away of idols and the renewal of God's promises to Jacob, the death of Rachel and the birth of Benjamin, Reuben's sin, and the death of Isaac at age 180 when Esau and Jacob probably met for the last time.
