Genesis 36:35
And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith. And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.
Genesis 36 belongs wholly to Esau and to the nations that sprang from him. The record of Husham's death and Hadad son of Bedad's succession falls about ten or eleven years after Jacob's blessing at Peniel. It comes after Jacob's meeting with Esau and his peaceful arrival at Shechem, after the destruction of Shechem, and after the family revival in which idols were put away. It comes also after God's blessing of Jacob with renewed promises, after the death of Rachel and the birth of Benjamin, after Reuben's sin, and after the death of Isaac at one hundred eighty years old. At that time Jacob was about one hundred nine years old, Joseph was seventeen, and Benjamin was a small child between two and four years old.
