Genesis 36:4

And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;

Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, and Bashemath bore Reuel to him. The record stands in a chapter wholly taken up with Esau and the nations that sprang from him. It comes ten or eleven years after Jacob's blessing at Peniel, after his peaceful meeting with Esau and his coming in peace to Shechem. It follows the destruction of Shechem, the revival in Jacob's family when they put away idols and God blessed Jacob and renewed His promises, the death of Rachel and birth of Benjamin, Reuben's sin, the account of the sons of Israel, and the death of Isaac at age 180 when Esau and Jacob probably met for the last time.

At the time Jacob was about 109 years old, Joseph was 17, and Benjamin was a small child two to four years old. Eliphaz's mother was a Hittite. Amalek was descended from Esau's son through a concubine named Timna.
