Joseph Interprets Dreams in the Prisonby emmanuel_higgins

Genesis 40:16

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:

In prison the chief butler and chief baker were troubled by their dreams, and Joseph interpreted each dream for them. When the chief baker saw that the interpretation of the butler's dream was good and favorable, he took courage to tell his own dream of having three white baskets on his head. As soon as he told it Joseph looked sad because he understood its terrible meaning. Though kind and sympathizing in heart, his high sense of duty led him to give the truthful sad interpretation.

The three baskets on his head meant three days. As in the dream the birds ate the baked food out of the upper basket, so he would hang upon a tree and birds would eat his flesh. After three days what was foretold came to pass exactly as predicted, with the baker hanged and put to death and the butler restored to office, showing a predicted event with a set time fulfilled as foretold. This three-day time prophecy is one of many cases where an event limited by a stated time was once only prophecy and then came to pass in accordance with the prediction, proving the chronological portions of the Bible are as sure as any other part and that the periods extending to the second coming are appointed times revealed by God.
