Lean Cows Devouring Fat Cows by the NileBible World

Genesis 41:21

And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.

The words are Pharaoh's own telling to Joseph of the first of his two dreams, which he had already told to the magicians with none able to declare its meaning to him, and the telling ends with his awaking. Seven lean, ill-favored cows devoured the seven fat, healthy, well-favored cows yet remained as ill-favored and gaunt as at the beginning, so that it could not be known that they had eaten them. The lean cattle were poor, lean-fleshed cows such as had never been seen in Egypt, coming up from the river after the fat cows. Their unchanged appearance pictured a famine so severe that the preceding years of plenty would not be remembered or felt and would leave no visible abundance once the famine came.
