Full and Thin Stalks of Grain at NightBible World

Genesis 41:24

And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.

The verse records Pharaoh's second dream, in which seven thin ears of grain devoured the seven good ears. The good ears were seven full and good ears coming up in one stalk. The thin ears were seven withered, thin ears blasted by the east wind that sprang up after them. Pharaoh told the dream to his magicians and wise men, but none of them could explain or declare its meaning to him.

The seven good ears represented seven years of abundance or plenty. The seven thin ears represented seven years of famine that would follow them. The devouring of the good ears by the thin ears showed that the famine would be so severe that the years of abundance would no longer be remembered. The dream revealed what God was about to do. Its repetition established that the matter was determined by God and would happen soon.
