Genesis 43:11
And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds: And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:
Jacob consented to send Benjamin to Egypt with his brothers on their return journey. He yielded reluctantly and only when want pressed upon his children and households, with Judah's surety and warning about further delay compelling him to let Benjamin go. To obtain the Egyptian ruler's favor, he told his sons to take the man a present of the best fruits the famine-stricken land could provide, a little balm and honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds, given in their father's name. He also directed them to take double or extra money along with Benjamin and the present, including returning the money found in their sacks as possibly placed there by mistake. He commanded them to take Benjamin and go again to the man, praying that God Almighty would grant them favor before the ruler.
