Genesis 43:23

And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.

The brothers were afraid over the money found in their sacks, fearing punishment and that it had been put there to accuse them and make them slaves. They sought the steward's friendship and explained that they had found the money, had brought it back in full weight along with additional money to buy food, and did not know who had put it there. The steward told them not to fear, that their God and their father's God had given them treasure in their sacks, and that he had received their money.

He then brought Simeon out to them, released from prison to rejoin them. The steward's words relieved their anxiety, and they took what happened as God showing them grace and kindness in answer to their father's prayer for mercy. The prayer answered was Jacob's plea that God Almighty would give them mercy before the man and send back Simeon and Benjamin.
