Joseph's Silver Cup Found in Benjamin's SackBible World

Genesis 44:12

And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

This moment belongs to the testing of the brothers after they came to Egypt for grain. The cup had been placed in Benjamin's sack deliberately as part of that test. The steward set the sacks on the ground and searched them in order, beginning with the eldest, Reuben, and going down to the youngest, Benjamin. What was found in Benjamin's sack was Joseph's silver drinking cup.

Its discovery made Benjamin appear guilty and left him liable to enslavement under the penalty the brothers themselves had agreed to, by their own promise doomed to a life of slavery. The discovery astonished, shocked and distressed the brothers and left them all speechless in utter wretchedness. In deep affliction they tore their garments and returned to Joseph in fear.

They felt the hand of God was against them for their past wickedness, believing He was bringing their past wrongdoing back upon them. They thought their father Jacob's fears were now fully realized.
