Joseph's Silver Cup Found in Benjamin's SackBible World

Genesis 44:15

And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

The verse belongs to Joseph's testing of his brothers after they came to Egypt for grain. In that testing he accused them of being spies in order to test their character and to learn about their family. The confrontation comes after the cup is found in Benjamin's sack, when Joseph asks what deed they have done. He then asks whether they did not know that a man such as he in his position could certainly divine.

He questions them in this way to draw out an acknowledgment of their past wrongdoing and sin. His purpose is also to reveal their true feelings. He never claimed actual power of divination. He only allowed them to think and believe that he could read the secret acts of their lives and uncover hidden deeds.
