Genesis 45:26
And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not. And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not.
The brothers return to Jacob with joy to report that Joseph is still alive and is governor over all the land of Egypt. They feel great joy and relief at finding that their brother still lives, because after remorse and great distress of mind since their cruelty toward him, they know they are not guilty of his blood. Their report is made with humble confession of the wrongs they committed against Joseph and pleading for his forgiveness. Joseph has gladly forgiven them and sent them away abundantly supplied with provisions, carriages and wagons to move their father's family and their own to Egypt, giving Benjamin more valuable presents than the others, and charging them not to fall out by the way lest they dispute and blame one another for their cruel treatment of him.
Jacob's heart faints under the joyful report because he cannot at first believe the news that Joseph is alive and rules Egypt, and he is overwhelmed by it. His unbelief is overcome only when they repeat to him all of Joseph's words and he sees the evidence Joseph sent to carry him, the wagons and animals from Egypt, along with Benjamin's return. His spirit then revives, and convinced and rejoicing he declares it is enough that his son Joseph is yet alive and determines to go and see him before he dies.
