Genesis 47:30

But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.

Jacob asked not to be buried in Egypt but to be carried out of Egypt and buried with his fathers in their burial place. Joseph promised to do as Jacob had asked and to bury him beside his fathers. Jacob then secured Joseph's promise with a solemn oath. The request expressed Jacob's faith in God's promise that his descendants would possess Canaan. It also expressed his expectation that he himself would return there even after death.
