Genesis 49:11

Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

Genesis 49:11 belongs to Jacob's dying testimony and blessing spoken to his sorrowing sons. It was uttered not from his own natural feelings but under the spirit of prophecy and inspiration, with his mind elevated by God above nature. By nature he had forgiven his children and loved them to the last, holding no unforgiving or resentful spirit toward them for their wrongs, so that his paternal affection alone would have led him to utter only expressions of love and tenderness.

In his last hours angels were all around him and the power of God's grace shone upon him. He therefore uttered inspired truth although it was painful, presenting the light in which God viewed deeds of violence and that He would visit and punish those sins. Among his prophetic words to his sons, the words concerning the other sons that include this verse were not as gloomy as the rest.
