Genesis 49:30

In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

The burial cave lies in the field of Machpelah in the land of Canaan, before Mamre. Abraham purchased that cave together with the surrounding field from Ephron the Hittite as a possession for a burying place. The cave is at Hebron, which was later called Mamre, and it serves as the burial place of the patriarchs. There the fathers were buried with their wives.

Jacob requested to be buried there with his fathers, and that final request made his last act a sign of faith in God's promise.
