Noah and Family Leave the Ark Under the RainbowBible World

Genesis 8:17

Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

After the waters decreased Noah and his family watched anxiously and desired to go forth upon the earth again, yet although Noah could remove the covering or top of the ark he could not open the door which God had shut, so an angel descended and opened the door. Through that angel God then commanded Noah's family to go forth out of the ark and to bring forth with them every living thing that was with them, of all flesh, both fowl and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.

The command was given so that life could continue on the earth, with the creatures breeding abundantly in the earth and being fruitful and multiplying upon the earth. The verse belongs to the inspired Old Testament account of Noah and the flood, affirmed as real history with Noah as a real person and the flood as a historical event. The generation of Noah's day prefigures the character of the world before Christ's appearing.

The flood was God's judgment and destruction brought upon the earth because of human sin, iniquity and disobedience, fulfilling God's warning against disobedience. It serves as a warning that persistent wickedness brings certain punishment. God used the massive ark to save all who would hear the warning and turn from unrighteousness, with all people tested by the truth Noah preached, yet only eight persons believed and were saved.
