Noah and His Three Sons Beneath the RainbowBible World
9:19Genesis 9:19
These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.
The opening chapters of Genesis carry divine authority because Christ himself pronounced them divine, so the two Testaments stand together and cannot be torn apart. Within that affirmed record, Noah stands as a real man who actually lived, not as a figure of myth. The Flood stands likewise as an accomplished fact of history, and the peopling of the entire earth from his three sons stands as true history of how humanity spread abroad. That history also bears prophetic force, for the days of Noah foreshadow the present age just before Christ appears in the clouds of heaven. The character and condition of that generation mark this age, since human nature left uninfluenced by the Spirit of God remains the same.
