Habakkuk 2:11

For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

Habakkuk 2:3-20 is a prophecy of destruction and desolation for the last days that will soon be witnessed and fulfilled, coming universally just as clearly described. The description given in the chapter is only a faint outline compared with the reality now at hand as the end draws near. That final reality involves Satan drilling his army year by year to develop strong parties ready for the great battle of the last great conflict.

The prophecy is the Lord's word for the last day and will surely be fulfilled, as surely as the desolation of San Francisco was seen, without tarrying beyond its appointed time. The crying of the stone from the wall means that even stones are pictured as speaking witnesses. When people who have received great light fail to use their voices and abilities to save souls, God's judgment will expose their selfish love of pleasure and even the stones will testify against them.

The verse calls for the work to be divided and subdivided, with chosen men selected and ordained as caretakers to do God's work, instead of leaving devising and planning for a whole conference to a few men. It asks who will be wise when evil springs forth, warns that men in high places supposing themselves wise will block the way, and declares that all these things will become a living reality requiring the King's highway to be cleared. Therefore all must be ready, because the Son of Man will come in such an hour as they think not.
