Habakkuk 2:7
Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them? Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them?
Those who plunder and oppress others will suddenly be risen against, bitten and vexed, and be made spoil for those who rise up to take their possessions. This warning stands among Old Testament prophecies of scenes soon to be witnessed and fulfilled in the last days. It belongs to Habakkuk 2:3-20, which portrays soon-coming destruction and desolation that will be universal as God's judgments upon cities.
The prophecy is the word of the Lord for the last day, describing scenes and realities that are now near and will soon be witnessed just as clearly described. It gives only a faint outline of that near reality, meaning evil will spring forth when the end is near while Satan is drilling his army to develop strong parties ready for the great battle of the last great conflict. It will not tarry beyond its appointed time but will be fulfilled exactly as described, as certainly as the desolation seen at San Francisco was fulfilled.
As what is described becomes a living reality, it calls for wisdom. Men in high places who suppose themselves wise will block the way, so that the King's highway must be cleared. It demands readiness, because the Son of man comes in such an hour as men think not.
