Habakkuk 2:9

Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

The woe is pronounced upon grasping for greedy, evil profit to enrich one's own household, in order to set one's nest high in security and greatness where danger cannot reach. It stands within Habakkuk 2:3-20, which lays out scenes of destruction and desolation that are soon to come and to be universal. That whole prophecy is a prophetic, even faint, portrayal of the scenes and reality of the last days, scenes that will be witnessed and will become a living reality when evil springs forth, and it will be fulfilled just as surely as the desolation of San Francisco was seen. It is the word of the Lord for the last day, declaring that the appointed judgment will not tarry beyond its appointed time, and calling all to be ready because the Son of man comes in an hour not expected. It belongs to the time when the end is near and Satan is drilling his army to build up strong parties prepared for the great battle of the last great conflict, raising the question who is wise in that time, when men in high places who suppose themselves wise will block the way and the King's highway must be cleared.
