Haggai 2:18

Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid, consider it.

The twenty-fourth day of the ninth month is the day the foundation of the Lord's temple was laid, when the people resumed work on it. The command is to consider from that day and upward, marking that day itself and the change in what follows it. That call to consider unveils the heart, because the Lord takes cognizance of all human works and is able to diminish, to increase, and to bless.

Before that day harvests were diminished through scarcity and damage to crops, with a heap of twenty measures falling to ten and fifty vessels drawn from the press falling to twenty, and the labors of the hands smitten with blasting and mildew and hail, because the people and every work of their hands and what they offered was unclean. From that day onward God promised to bless, even while the seed was yet in the barn and the vine and the fig tree and the pomegranate and the olive had not yet brought forth.

The verse calls for honoring God by building a house for worship without delay and acting from that time onward. It teaches not to leave the Lord's house unattended or to treat its construction as a last consideration, but to make building a place of worship a priority.
