Moses Looks Back at Complaining Israel in the Desertby emmanuel_higgins

Hebrews 3:2

Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

The call is directed to holy brethren who share the heavenly calling, urging them to fix their attention on Christ Jesus as the Apostle and High Priest of their profession. He was faithful to God who appointed Him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house, placing their faithfulness side by side before any distinction is drawn between them.

Moses served within God's house as a servant, as the prophet through whom God communicated with Israel in the wilderness, and as a witness to the things that would afterward be spoken. Christ is greater than Moses as the Son of God and as Son over His own house and as the builder of the house, and therefore He is counted worthy of greater glory and honor.

Those who hold their confidence and their hope firm to the end belong to Christ's house, so sharing in Christ depends on remaining steadfast. Believers must therefore guard against unbelief and encourage one another daily, because unbelief directed toward Christ brings greater retribution than Israel's unbelief in the wilderness. This is instruction from Christ extending from the beginning of the Old Testament to the close of the New Testament, to be treasured, kept in memory, and heeded with each person's best effort, giving valuable experience and keeping believers from letting God's Word slip.
