Hebrews 7:11
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, ( for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Perfection could not come by the Levitical priesthood, for under it the people received the law, and therefore another priest was required to rise after the order of Melchisedec and not after the order of Aaron. The glory that belonged to the Aaronic priesthood is eclipsed by a royal priesthood in which believers are set apart by grace and clothed with Christ's righteousness to serve as representatives of the Redeemer. Because of Christ's perfect obedience and His intercession, the prayers offered by that royal priesthood are acceptable to God.
