Hebrews 7:28

For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Under the law those appointed high priests are mortal men marked by infirmity and human weakness and subject to weakness. After and since that law came the word of the oath, the later word of God's oath, appointing the Son as High Priest. That Son is consecrated forevermore, consecrated forever in enduring contrast to those mortal priests.

Such a High Priest was needed, one who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens. Unlike human priests who must offer daily, first for their own sins and then for the people's, and who had to offer sacrifices for their own sins and for the people, He did not need to do so because He offered up Himself once for all, offering Himself once. His priesthood is unique and enduring, and He alone ministers as High Priest for believers.

The resources of heaven are not failed or overdrawn. Those whose faith is tested in discouraging circumstances can look away from appearances and trust the living Christ. He saves to the uttermost all those who come to God by Him.
