Hebrews 8:3
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
Every high priest is ordained to present gifts and sacrifices, so it is necessary that he have something to offer. That necessity rests upon Christ as the great High Priest in His ministry in the heavenly sanctuary. Heaven contains a real and true sanctuary with an active ministry, and the earthly sanctuary was made as its pattern.
Christ met the requirement by offering His own life as the sacrifice for sin once for all. His death fulfilled the meaning of the Jewish sacrificial offerings. His ministry in the heavenly sanctuary is the reality that the earthly priesthood foreshadowed. The verse belongs to the transition from priestly types and shadows to their reality, when Caiaphas held the office and the true High Priest came into office.
