Hosea 10:15
So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off. So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
Through Hosea the ten tribes received message after message urging full and complete repentance. The warning was sent to arouse impenitent Israel to its imminent danger of utter destruction. Those ten tribes are called Ephraim, because Ephraim was a leader in apostasy among the tribes and thus stands as a symbol of the apostate nation. Their great wickedness meant having cast off what is good and being broken in judgment, without knowing that strangers had devoured their strength and that gray hairs were upon them.
They trusted in their own way and in the multitude of their mighty men. Their leaders kept pursuing political power through alliances with heathen nations instead of turning from the practices that had weakened the kingdom, and that course led to the nation's downfall. Because of continued transgression and great wickedness Bethel would bring disaster upon them, with tumult arising among the people and all fortresses spoiled, leaving them soon to be wanderers among the nations. The king of Israel would be suddenly and utterly cut off in the morning, at daybreak.
