Hosea Offers Grapes to a Weeping Gomerby emmanuel_higgins

Hosea 2:14

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

After apostasy and bitter retribution, the verse gives a gracious promise of comfort and of future glory that follows judgment. God allures and draws His unfaithful but repentant people back to Himself, brings them into the wilderness, and speaks comfortably and tenderly to them.

In symbolic language this is His plan to restore the blessings of Israel's days of loyalty to every penitent soul who joins His church on earth. The leading into the wilderness is part of that restoration, and the promise belongs to the gathering of a people from all nations who are prepared for Christ's second coming.

The people thus gathered in the wilderness are the Lord's chosen church, represented by a woman and identified with the remnant of Israel. In the last days He renews His covenant with His commandment-keeping people and restores them in mercy and faithfulness.
