Hosea 2:16

And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

At that day the promise is that God will restore His penitent, repentant people to a loving, intimate covenant relationship with Himself. Ishi means my husband, while Baali means my lord or my master. The change of address expresses a close and faithful bond marked by love rather than mastery. Ceasing to call Him Baali ends the old form of address associated with the Baalim, whose names God removes from mouths and memory so that idolatry is no longer remembered.

The restoration includes uniting with His church and receiving the blessings once granted to loyal Israel. The promise belongs to the renewal of God's covenant with His commandment-keeping people in the last days. The prophecy reaches its complete fulfillment when God gathers from all nations a people prepared for Christ's second coming.
