Hosea 6:10

I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

Hosea 6:10 describes the state of the world just prior to the second coming of the Lord, when the end of all things is at hand. Its horrible thing, whoredom, and defilement mean that iniquity abounds because people by continual transgression have transgressed the law and broken the everlasting covenant that was given on condition of obedience. It portrays a world turning away from God and His righteous government and coming more and more under the sway of seducing spirits. It includes those who profess godliness yet indulge their own traits of character and become self-indulgent and self-centered unless they are conscientiously under the control of God.

The defilement is specifically trampling upon God's law and making human laws that people will be forced to accept, on the plea that since the whole world keeps Sunday the few in number should do according to the laws of the land. It is blindness through error, taking words from the lips of priests and human lawmakers and supposing it does not matter whether God's law is kept. The law thus disregarded was instituted in Eden when the foundations of the earth were laid, when God gave humanity His memorial to honor the living God who made the world in six days and sanctified and blessed the day of His rest, which was to endure forever.
