Hosea Kneeling in a Dewy Field at Sunriseby emmanuel_higgins

Hosea 6:2

After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

After God disciplines and afflicts His people Israel and brings them low, He will heal, revive, restore and raise them up so that they shall live in His presence. This restoration follows a brief period of affliction and lifts the smitten people into renewed life before Him.

The promise belongs to the call to return to the Lord, who wounds in order to heal, and to continue seeking Him. With that return comes renewed knowledge of Him and blessing following it, as those who keep seeking come to know the Lord. The mention of after two days and in the third day shows that the affliction is short and that the promised restoration to renewed life is certain and near. That raising up is joined to the further promise that the Lord shall be known and shall come as the rain.

The verse belongs also to a prophecy of the state of the world just prior to the second coming, when the end of all things is at hand. Then iniquity abounds because people have transgressed the law and broken the everlasting covenant given on condition of obedience. By continual transgression the world comes more and more under the sway of seducing spirits as people turn away from God and His righteous government. Together with the next verse, it applies to God's people being filled with the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the time of trouble as they go out to proclaim the Sabbath more fully.
