Hosea 6:8

Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.

Gilead as a city of workers of iniquity polluted with blood describes the state of the world just prior to the second coming of the Lord, when the end of all things is at hand and iniquity abounds. That abounding iniquity comes because men have transgressed the law and broken the everlasting covenant, which was given on condition of obedience. By continual transgression the world comes more and more under the sway of seducing spirits, as men turn away from God and His righteous government.

Those who trample upon God's law make human laws that they will force the people to accept, devising and counseling and planning what they will do. Their leaders argue that because the whole world keeps Sunday, the few in number should act according to the laws of the land. Blinded by error and taking their words from priests and human lawmakers, they suppose it does not matter if they do not keep God's law. That law was instituted in Eden when the foundations of the earth were laid and all the sons of God shouted for joy. The trampled law is God's memorial given to honor the living God who made the world in six days and sanctified and blessed the day of His rest.
