Isaiah 10:26
And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt. And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
For a season Assyria served as the rod of anger for the punishment of the nations. Those dwelling in Zion, Judah, are assured not to be afraid of the Assyrian, for his power was not to prevail forever. After yet a very little while the Lord of hosts Himself would turn against Assyria to deliver His people, stirring up a scourge against the oppressor. That judgment would be according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb, and as His rod was upon the sea, so would He lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
His burden would be taken away from off the shoulder, and his yoke from off the neck. That yoke would be destroyed because of the anointing. The promise was given years beforehand, and it gave certainty to Hezekiah's stand when the advancing hosts of Assyria threatened Jerusalem with utter destruction. It assured Judah that God would help them and fight their battles and deliver them.
