Isaiah 10:27

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

In that day the burden laid upon the shoulder will be taken away and the yoke laid upon the neck will be removed and destroyed, which is freedom for Judah from Assyrian oppression. The promise is given against the background of a threat advancing upon Jerusalem. The promised deliverance is compared to the defeat of Midian and to the deliverance of Israel from Egypt.

Assyria had for a time been used as an instrument of God to punish nations. The deliverance comes when God acts against Assyria itself. Assyria will not be allowed to prevail permanently.

The anointing through which the yoke is destroyed is connected with the pouring of the Holy Spirit upon the living saints, whose faces will then shine with divine glory as Moses' face did after Sinai.
