Isaiah 10:34

And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

Isaiah 10:34 belongs to a historical account of an Assyrian invasion of Judah. The identity of the one carrying out the deeds described in that account is not made clear by the verses themselves.

The chapter to which the verse belongs depicts strife, war, and wickedness. That depiction stands in contrast with the rest, peace, and righteousness described in Isaiah 11. The wider section reproves the sin of Isaiah's time as pointing to similar conditions in the last days. Its prophecies look forward to the great deliverance at Christ's coming.
