Isaiah 14:24
The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
The Lord of hosts has sworn that as He has thought so it will come to pass, and as He has purposed so it will stand, and what He has decided will certainly happen with no one able to overturn it. In its setting that sworn certainty is aimed at breaking Assyria, bringing the Assyrian oppressor and his power down underfoot in God's own land in Judah. That breaking means the yoke is removed from His people and the burden is lifted from Judah. The same certain purpose that judges Assyria governs the nations.
