The King of Babylon Lies Fallen Below the Zigguratby emmanuel_higgins

Isaiah 14:6

He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.

The verse portrays an oppressor who smote peoples in wrath with a continual stroke and ruled the nations in anger. His persecution went forward unrestrained, with none hindering him. His rule is shown coming to an end, as God breaks his power and brings him to an end. He is restrained, and the power of the wicked rulers is broken. In this prophecy the king of Babylon represents Satan.

The captivity of that oppressor brings gladness to God's people. It brings them also rest and rejoicing.
