Isaiah 17:4

And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

The prophecy to which this verse belongs is that of Isaiah, whose name means Jehovah is salvation. He is the Gospel prophet, who speaks of the last days, of the sufferings and work of Jesus Christ, and of the coming kingdom of glory more fully than any other prophet of the Old Testament. The message was given between 760 and 698 B.C., beginning when Isaiah was a young man in the reign of Uzziah and continuing through the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah.

It stands in the first part of the book, chapters 1-39, in the third division, chapters 13-23, which is a series of burdens against Babylon, Philistia, Moab, and other nations. It was spoken in crucial times in Judah that were typical of the great days to come.
