Isaiah 2:15

And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,

In the day of the Lord of hosts judgment shall be upon every high tower and upon every fenced wall to bring them low. It is part of what is coming upon the world, when everyone proud and lofty and lifted up shall be brought low. The towers and walls stand among a wider list of lofty things to be brought low in that day: everyone proud and lofty and lifted up and everything high and exalted. That list includes the high cedars of Lebanon and the oaks, the mountains and lifted hills, the ships of Tarshish and pleasant pictures.

The verse means human strength and defenses and exalted works will be humbled, including every man-made height and defense. Human lofty looks shall be humbled, and loftiness shall be bowed down and haughtiness made low, and pride brought low under judgment. The Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. In that day idols shall be utterly abolished. Men shall enter into the rock and hide in the dust and go into the holes of the rocks and caves of the earth for fear of the Lord and for the glory of His majesty when He arises to shake the earth terribly. Those who had great light but chose unbelief are called to this hiding.

The humbling reaches kings and nobles as well as rich and poor, who shall all bow as withering plagues fall upon them. The fulfillment is certain and near, even at the door and soon to come. It comes as the warfare between good and evil increases in intensity toward the last great battle, with increasing war and bloodshed and confusion of nations seeking to outdo one another for possession. The verse must be read and understood before it is too late, and warned to transgressors before the judgments fall so they may know how to avoid them. It is set forth as Scripture to study carefully, with a call to turn to the Lord with all the heart with fasting and weeping and mourning before that day comes.
