Isaiah 20:6

And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?

Isaiah 20:6 belongs to Isaiah's prophecies concerning Egypt. It belongs also to the prophecy concerning Assyria. It portrays the alarmed inhabitants of the isle speaking in that day as they discover that the power in which they had placed their expectation for protection and help is itself unable to deliver from the king of Assyria, and as they ask in dismay how they themselves shall escape. That prophecy found partial fulfillment through the actions of Esar Haddon and Ashur-bani-pal as Assyrian kings.
