Isaiah 21:14

The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.

The verse belongs to the account in Isaiah 21:11-17 of the harassment of the Arab tribes by the Assyrians and Chaldeans. Those tribes were descended in great measure from Ishmael. Within that account it describes the inhabitants of Tema bringing water to him that was thirsty and meeting him that fled with bread. It is a picture of practical kindness shown to a fugitive in need of drink and food.

The passage in Isaiah 21:11-16, including this verse, will have a special application in the time of trouble just ahead. That is the time when the remnant church will have to flee from their persecutors. They are identified as those who keep the commandments of God.
