And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. Isaiah 22:21 stands among the prophecies of Isaiah 20-22 concerning Assyria, the wilderness of the South, Idumea, and Israel. The chapter containing it is directed against Jerusalem. It describes Eliakim receiving authority over Hezekiah's household, and his position and authority foreshadow Christ, whose Word and Spirit alone open doors.
