Isaiah 23:18

And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

Merchandise and hire are to be holiness to the Lord, and are not to be treasured nor laid up. That means property and money are to be acquired only as God directs and used with an eye single to His glory in channels He can bless. Living this way requires earnest prayer to guide both the getting and the spending. Money handled in this directed and blessable way is safe.

Its purpose is to serve God's purposes and to provide for those who dwell before Him, blessing oneself in order to bless others with food to eat sufficiently and with durable clothing. The opposite is rebuked: treating property as if one owns and creates it, and using it without regard for God's glory. Grasping for wages and goods after the world's maxim, with self made as God, brings God's frown and will be scattered faster than it can be gathered. Faithfulness in this probationary test and trial works by love, purifies the soul, and prepares for eternal life.
