Isaiah 25:7

And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

The destroying takes place in this mountain, the Lord's mountain, where He makes for all people a feast of fat things and refined wines and brings the promised salvation. There death is swallowed up in victory, tears are wiped away from all faces, and the rebuke and reproach of His people is taken away from the earth. This fulfills His wonderful works and His counsels of old, which are faithfulness and truth and have their foundation in mercy and righteousness.

The covering cast over all people and the veil spread over all nations are ignorance and darkness, including error and superstition. The verse promises a future deliverance for all nations in which the Lord will remove that covering while destroying pride and self-exaltation, without itself defining what the covering represents. The veil will finally be removed as the knowledge of the Lord spreads until the earth is filled with it. When truth is no longer withheld, people come to know His love, and error and superstition give way to that knowledge.

At that time God's Spirit will be poured out on all flesh. People from every nation who hunger and thirst for righteousness and seek it will then be gathered in and counted among God's people, so the blessing extends to every nation. In the gospel covenant pictured as a marriage, the feast is the blessing of pardon and the destroying of the covering and veil is the removing and taking away of sins by free access through grace to the riches of His glory. It is received through the living Word received and practiced as fitness for church fellowship, with the wedding garment which is the righteousness of Christ as the needed preparation to partake.
