Isaiah 26:5
For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust. For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
The words belong to the song to be sung in the land of Judah in that day. It is sung when the gates are opened for the righteous nation that keeps the truth to enter God's strong city, where salvation is appointed for walls and bulwarks. It teaches trust in the Lord forever, because everlasting strength is in the Lord Jehovah. That strength brings down those who dwell on high and lays their lofty city low, even to the ground and to the dust, until the feet of the poor and the steps of the needy tread it down. The humbling is connected with God's preparation of pardon, the taking away of sins through free access to grace and the riches of His glory.
