Isaiah 26:6

The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

The verse belongs to the song to be sung in the land of Judah about a strong city with salvation appointed for walls and bulwarks. In that song it declares that the Lord brings down those who dwell on high, laying the lofty city low to the ground and to the dust. Once laid low, the city is trodden down by foot, even by the feet of the poor and the steps of the needy. It points to the preparation God has made in which pardon and the removal of sins come through free access to grace and the riches of His glory.
