Isaiah 26:8
Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.
The verse belongs to the song to be sung in the land of Judah about a strong city with salvation appointed for walls and bulwarks, entered by the righteous nation that keeps the truth. Within that song it expresses waiting for the Lord in the way of His judgments, with the desire of the soul toward His name and to the remembrance of Him. There it is joined to trust in the Lord Jehovah as everlasting strength who brings down those dwelling on high and lays the lofty city in the dust, and who weighs the upright path of the just.
In prayer for healing it teaches trusting God after using the means available and leaving the outcome to His will and glory. In connection with the preparation God has made for the wedding feast, it points to pardon and the removal of sins. That pardon and removal come through free access of grace and the riches of God's glory.
