Isaiah 27:4

Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.

The vineyard is the Jewish church, the house of Israel and the men of Judah, His pleasant plant. The Lord Himself keeps it, watering it every moment and guarding it day and night lest any hurt it. Fury is not in Him toward it. He stands against its enemies, so that whoever would set briers and thorns against Him in battle, He would go through them and burn them together. His keeping looks to fruitfulness, that they that come of Jacob shall take root, and Israel shall blossom and bud and fill the face of the world with fruit.

Fury is not in God as His settled disposition. Giving His only begotten Son to suffer for human redemption was a strange work to Him, undertaken because of His love.
