Isaiah 28:2

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

The Lord holds in reserve a mighty and strong agent of judgment to execute His purpose against pride. That power advances like a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, and like a flood of mighty waters overflowing beyond restraint. With irresistible force it seizes what exalts itself and casts it down to the earth with the hand. This casting down was seen in the destruction of San Francisco, which stands as a direct fulfillment of the warning. The same judgment will not stop there, for further destructions will follow rapidly one after another in different places.
