Isaiah 30:14

And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.

The breaking is sudden, total, complete and unsparing, like a potter's vessel shattered in pieces beyond repair, so that no fragment remains whole or usable, not even a sherd large enough to carry fire from the hearth or to draw water from the pit. It is a warning to a rebellious, lying people who reject the law of the Lord, despise His word, reproof and plain straight testimony, refuse to hear and obey His voice, trust in oppression and perverseness rather than staying in His way, and tell seers not to see and prophets to speak smooth and deceptive things rather than right things. Their iniquity becomes like a swelling breach in a high wall that collapses in an instant, and they refuse the call to return and find salvation in rest, quietness and confidence.

The chapter and its complete unsparing breaking apply to men in responsible positions at the heart of the work who claim to be teachers, counsellors and wise men while unconverted in heart and practice, holding old hereditary and cultivated character, walking contrary to God, mingling their own spirit with words and actions, perverting principle, misrepresenting and insulting God and abusing His honor, and confederating to do what He expressly forbade, so that justice, mercy, love for God and man, and equity fall in the streets. Their eyes are blinded, they weaken the work and dishonor truth of heavenly origin, yet God will still have a remnant people purified, made white and tried. The same breaking applies to medical workers not under heavenly control who trust in men, make flesh their arm, exalt those doing a work not assigned by God, put trust in men disobedient to warnings, and seek to make of no effect messages of reproof and warning by bracing themselves against His will and way.

The verse declares that destruction has gone forth upon cities and the day of the Lord is right upon the world, underscoring the certainty and severity of the warned destruction when buildings are consumed by fire and fall in a very few minutes with screeching and mournful groans, and those who followed voices that turn things upside down will themselves be turned where they cannot see and will be as blind men. At the execution of judgment God will not spare any Sodomitish impurity, and not one particle of uncleanness will escape His wrath; those who do not repent of and forsake all uncleanness will be utterly broken in pieces and fall with the wicked. That fall includes those who pervert truth held in unrighteousness by fleshly appetite and self-indulgence, including meat eating and harmful diet, and who had great light and disregarded it, with punishment proportionate to the dishonor they brought on God and the light they rejected.

To escape this destruction, church members must fast and pray, put away sensuality, and strive earnestly to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, for only those who become saints and not sinners will become members of the royal family and form God's kingdom in the earth made new.
